24 Tips on Step Ladder Safety

Accident statistic shows that a third of all reported falls from height involves ladders and step ladders (thompsons-scotland.co.uk). At least three hundred people a year die in simple falls from ladders (safety-engineer.com).

step-laddersThere must be something wrong with the usage of step ladder if we look at both statistics. In simple word, workers have ignored step ladder safety which could save them from injuries and death due to fall accidents.

Step ladder usage in chemical plant operation will increase during turn around (yearly preventive maintenance) and construction work. Or sometimes step ladder is used when workers need to repair equipment or piping on an elevated area. (more…)

Scaffold Accident Statistic – The Unspoken Warning

Scaffold accident or scaffolding accident may be seen as the secondary hazard in chemical plant. It could be understood because the use of scaffold is less frequent in operating or existing chemical plant. Scaffold is probably used if there is a construction work done in the plant site.

scaffolding-accidentIn addition, scaffold accident has higher probability to happen due to scaffold users are construction workers or construction labors who may have received inadequate safety training.

Scaffold usage could cause various accidents at work. Fall accident may become the major work accident related to scaffold operation. It could cause fatal injuries and deaths. So that’s why safety precautions on such accident at work should be given in high priority. (more…)

Most Noticeable Lab Safety Equipment

Lab safety equipment is an integrated part of the whole safety system equipments in every chemical plant. Lab safety equipment is provided in order to avoid lab accidents, reduce hazard (chemical, physical and biological) exposure and etc.

lab-safetyVarious analytical works are carried out in laboratory everyday, which involve the use many hazardous chemicals or hazmat. As the consequences, many potential hazards are possible to happen in the laboratory, such as chemical spills, worker exposure to toxic gases, explosion, fire and electric shock.

So that’s why lab safety equipment plays an important role in accident prevention inside the laboratory. It can save workers from death and injuries, and keep your accident statistic remain zero.

Then, what types of lab safety equipment do you have to provide? Here is the list. (more…)
