Safety Eye Glasses Features

Never think that safety eye glasses are same with eye glasses in general. They are really different. You can differentiate them by looking at the frames. Safety glasses have thicker frames than eye glasses. The lenses of safety eye glasses are also designed stronger than regular eye glasses.

ANSI standard is very common standard that applies for safety eye glasses. In ANSI standard, the lenses should resist to impact and pass a test of drop ball. The test is conducted by dropping a ball from a certain distance onto the lenses.

When the lenses can pass the ball test, then the lenses can be used for safety eye glasses. Meanwhile, frame materials should be heat resistant. The frames design should be able to prevent the lenses being pressed into the eyes when they are being worn.

Lenses are usually made of polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is more impact resistant, more robust and stronger.

Safety eye glasses are also equipped with top and side cover to give full protection to the eyes. And a string is also attached to the both sides of frames to protect the safety eye glasses from falling when they are being used.

Finally, choose safety eye glasses that give a good fit. Do not ignore worker’s comfort when they are being worn.
